APPARENTLY UPRIGHT AND INTACT. ORIENTATED 120/300 DEG. SHADOW THOUGHT SLIGHTLY EXAGGERATED DUE SLOPING SEABED. ACCEPT E/S LEAST DEPTH. (HMS FAWN, HI 353).

- NM 833/88. HH100/351/14 5.8.99 DIVED IN 5813.40N, 0243.10W [WGD] USING GPS. A SS LYING UPRIGHT WITH TWO SIDE BY SIDE BOILERS STILL CONTAINED IN THE HULL. THE WK APPEARS TO BE OF FAIRLY BROAD BEAM WITH A SMALL FORWARD CABIN. THE DECKING ALMOST RESEMBLES A TANKER DECKING, BUT THERE WERE NO VISIBLE PIPES SO THIS WAS DISCOUNTED. JUST AFT OF THE BOILERS THERE IS A SHEER BREAK IN THE HULL AND IT IS ASSUMED TO BE IN TWO PIECES. STERN NOT SEEN BUT THERE WAS A SECOND CONTACT ON THE E/S SOME 50MTRS TO THE SE.
