Cause: 9 german subs allocated to falmouth for gunnery practice & experiments. 2 out of 8 delivered were deliberately sunk. the remaining 6, [16343], [16344], [16345], [16346] & [17311], were swept onto rocks in castle drive during a winter gale in 1921. (cornish shipwrecks, vol 1, south coast).

ONE SUNK CLOSE INSHORE NEAR THE BATHING BEACH & PART OF ITS RUSTING HULL STILL SHOWS [1969] AT LW, THE OTHERS SANK ALONG THE LINE OF ROCKS & THEIR REMAINS ARE SCATTERED OVER A LARGE AREA.
