Cause: built in 1916 by a g weser, bremen. depth charged by us escort destroyers 'fanning' and 'nicolson'. surfaced but 2 of 38 crew, who were setting explosive scuttling charges, were lost when charges detonated & submarine plunged to seabed. differing accounts of where action took place, one being 11m sw of st anne's hd, pembrokeshire.
