Cause: oil engines of 2800bhp, twin shaft. depth charged by rcaf aircraft 30 miles s of portland bill. 48 lives lost. (german submarines vol 2, u boats destroyed, die deutchen kriegsschiffe vol 3). now believe sunk by depth charge attack by hmcs calgary. (naval historical branch).
