Length 67.1 meter, width: 6.1 meter, draught: 4.9, tonnage 871 ton

Cause: sunk at 0715 by a mine in the mine barrage qzx in the st george's channel. crew of 44 lost previously recorded as being sunk after being depth charged by hm ships havelock and hesperus and a flying boat. this was, in fact, against the already sunken wreck of u 246 and it brought personal belongings of a crew member of u 246 to the surface.

LEAST E/S DEPTH 41 IN GEN DEPTH 45MTRS. NO SCOUR. DCS3 HT 6MTRS. LENGTH 49MTRS. LIES E/W. APPARENTLY BROKEN UP BUT NOT SPREAD OUT. (HMS FOX, HI 54/76). DCS3 TRACE INDICATES THAT THIS IS A SUBMARINE. THE TORPEDO ROOM IS OPEN EXPOSING WHAT APPEARS TO BE LIVE TORPEDOES. THIS IS THE WK OF U 246. (J SHAW). HH100/351/17 30.8.01 LIES IN 5339.979N, 0454.292W [WGD] USING GPS.
