H1310/84/8 2.3.84 NORWEGIAN HYDROGRAPHER REPORTS POSN OBTAINED FROM TRAWLERS. (A CROTHALL, LTR DTD 2.3.84). NCA. HH100/351/13 18.9.97 FROM GERMAN SOURCES U-156 SHOULD, ON 25.9.18, PASS FROM 595700N, 013000E TO 592100N, 024200E. NEARLY ON THIS SUPPOSED LINE LIES [637] AS THE ONLY MARKED WRECK. THIS WK IS ALMOST FOUND ON THE SPOT WHERE THE FIRST LINES OF MINES, DANGEROUS FOR SUBMARINES PASSING BETWEEN 90 AND 160 FEET, IN THE NORTHERN BARRAGE, WAS LAID ON 30.7.18. IT IS KNOWN FROM THE BRITISH SUBMARINE L-8, ON PATROL, THAT U-156 PUSHED ON UNDERWATER. THUS THIS WRECK MIGHT BE U-156. (C H ANKARBERG, LTR DTD 13.9.97).
