Shipwreck details

Name: Trinidad

Length 94.5 meter, width: 11.3 meter, draught: 6.1, tonnage 2592 ton

Cause: torpedoed & sunk by german submarine u-110, while en route le havre to liverpool, with the loss of 39 lives.positional analysis: the wreck of trinidad lies 3.2nm north of the position reported in u110's ktb. the british position is vague due the fact the ship sank immediately, leaving only three survivors (tnaadm 137/1515).archival analysis: u110's ktb states that it torpedoed a two-funnelled steamer in the bridge area, resulting in the fore section falling away and the ship sinking immediately. trinidad had two funnels after itwas lengthened in 1893.

LEAST E/S DEPTH 111.6MTRS IN GEN DEPTH 120MTRS. SCOUR 2MTRS DEEP. DCS3 HT 8.5MTRS, LENGTH 100MTRS, WIDTH 15MTRS. LYING 120/300 DEGS. BEST SONAR CONTACT OBTAINED FROM W OF WK. (HMS FAWN HI 3). BR STD. WRECK SURVEYED 11/7/2019: MBES DATA SHOWS UPRIGHT SS CARGO WITH BOW SECTION MISSING OR CALLASPED, 84MTRS IN LENGTH AND 11MTRS WIDE. THE WK IS IDENTICAL TO VESSEL "TRINIDAD" IN WIDTH, BUT DIFFICULT TO MEASURE LENGTH DUE TO COLLAPSED BOW. (INNES MCCARTNEY BOOK "ECHOES FROM THE DEEP"). UPDATE ATTRIBUTES.
