Cause: built in 1882 by j l thompson, sunderland. two boilers, compound expansion engine of 283nhp, single shaft. passage galveston for rotterdam. cargo wheat & oil cake. struck the crim rock in thick fog. drifted off but quickly sank. later demolished. (sibi).

FOUND WITH MAGNETOMETER, ESTIMATED FROM READING TO BE ABOUT 1,500-1,800 TONS, LENGTH 180-200FT. STERN HIGHEST POINT ABOUT 10FT IN SAND AND GRAVEL. UPRIGHT WITH CAST IRON PROP. SIDES OF HULL COLLAPSED. HEIGHT OF ENGINE [EARLY TRIPLE EXPANSION] 12FT WITH ONE BOILER. RISES TO 12FT AT BOWS. TWO LARGE ANCHORS, LITTLE SUPERSTRUCTURE. POSSIBLY 'TOLEDO' SUNK 1898 AFTER STRIKING STEEPLE ROCK. (MR GILES, LYONESSE SALVAGE, 15.5.74). CHART AS WK 25MTRS. BR STD.
