Cause: 15.6.17 built in 1904 by ropner & son, stockton-on-tees. owned at time of loss by sir robert ropner. two boilers, triple expansion engine of 258nhp, single shaft. passage plymouth for the tees. survived a torpedo attack by a submarine on 15.6.17 and was beached to prevent sinking. after temp repairs foundered while on passage to the tees for docking and repair. HH100/351/19 19.9.02 DIVED IN 5439.086N, 0058.644W [WGD] USING DGPS. APPEARS TO BE A COASTER, BUT DIVED IN BAD VISIBILITY. CERTAINLY A MASS OF STEEL. DIVED BY C RACEY & A JACKSON.
