Cause: vessel, built 1942, was in company of another destroyer when engaged by canadian destroyers 'athabaskan' & 'haida' nw of brest. during the battle that followed the 't-27' was driven ashore on fire. later destroyed by british aircraft. the 'athabaskan' was sunk by gunfire & torpedoes. (dods).
