Length 88.1 meter, width: 11.9 meter, draught: 5.2, tonnage 2459 ton
Load: coal

Cause: built in 1909 by ateliers & chantiers de france, dunkirk. owned at time of loss by the societe navale de l'ouest. triple expansion engine. 156 hp. torpedoed and sunk by german submarine uc 51, off st ann's head in the bristol channel, whilst on passage barry to bizerta. (shipwreck index of british isles) torpedoed on starboard side, abandoned by crew & sank in 15 minutes. (k mcdonald, diver magazine feb'04)

WELL BROKEN UP AND COVERED OVER WITH SAND. LARGE PROP SHAFT AND 4 BLADED PROP. 2-3 LARGE BOILERS. SIDES COLLAPSED AND COVERED OVER. (R S WELLS, LTR DTD AUG'00). INS AS WK 29MTRS. BR STD. 26.2.04 26.2.04 ST JACQUES LIES IN 5138.435N, 0506.771W [WGD] BY GPS. LIES MOSTLY FLAT ON SANDY SEABED WITH BOWS E. DIFFICULT TO LOCATE WITH BOW AND BOILERS BEING HIGHEST POINTS. BOW SEPARATED FROM REST OF WK LIES ON ITS STARBOARD SIDE, WITH ANCHOR WINCH, OTHER DECK FITTINGS, GUNMOUNT & BOLLARDS ON SEABED CLOSE BY. HULL PLATES PARTLY BURIED IN SAND. DEBRIS LIES ON EITHER SIDE OF REMAINS OF HULL & KEEL. FINAL STERN SECTION AND PROPELLER SEPARATED FROM REST OF HULL. STERN GUN LIES ON SEABED, WITH SPARE PROPELLER NEARBY PARTIALLY BURIED.
