Cause: built in 1883 by bartram, haswell & co, sunderland. owned at time of loss by the vagliano bros, argostoli. two boilers, compound expansion engine of 170 nhp, single shaft. passage novorossiysk for falmouth. struck the manacles in darkness and heavy weather, probably due to incorrect dr position. 14 men lost. DAVIS). 3.3.70 LIES BOWS IN TO THE ROCKS, BOW IN 35FT, STERN IN 70FT. SALVAGE HAS TAKEN PLACE AND LITTLE REMAINS OTHER THAN 2 BOILERS AND THE DOUBLE BOTTOM SECTION. PROPELLOR SHAFT IS STILL INTACT BUT THE STERN SECTION IS NOW MISSING. APPLICATION TO PURCHASE WK WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. (R. DAVIS). 20.4.82 LITTLE OF THIS WK NOW EXISTS.
