Cause: ex-dauntless. built in 1884 by w gray & co, west hartlepool owned at time of loss by rederiaktiebol, helsingborg. two boilers, compound expansion engine of 173hp, single shaft. passage stockholm for calais. cargo timber. refloated after grounding on whitby rock in fine weather, but beached at whitby in sinking condition the following day in bad weather.

(RN PARTY SANDSTONE, HN 26.2.65). KNOWN LOCALLY AS WK OF 'SKAINE'. VERY OLD, SCATTERED REMAINS, INCLUDING TANKS, BOILERS ETC, WHICH SHOW ABOVE THE SAND. (DEPUTY HARBOURMASTER, WHITBY, TELECON, 11.3.65). INS AS DWP (REMAINS) D 1FT [0.3MTRS]. BR STD. 13.12.74 AMEND TO DWP (REMAINS), DR 0.9MTRS [LAT]. NC 1612. 14.7.81 AMEND STF (REMAINS), D 0.9MTRS.
