Cause: built in 1913 by tyne iron shipbuilding co. ltd, newcastle-upon-tyne, with 3 cylinder triple expansion engine of 514 hp, single shaft, 3 boilers. aft machinery by ne marine eng. co. owned at time of loss by the oil tanks steamship co, ltd (ct bowring). passage halifax n.s. for queenstown on admiralty service. captured and sunk using gunfire by german submarine u38 in the sw approaches.
