Cause: vessel, built in 1905 by j redhead & sons & owned at the time of loss by scrutton & sons, was torpedoed & sunk by german s/m ub 35 when 10m w of s catherines point whilst en route from london to w. indies. eventually sank on the bridge of needles in two halves. 5 lives lost, the captain was among the survivors. (ww1sl, dods & der krieg zur see).

LOCATED BY MAGNETOMETER & FIXED BY SEXTANT. ALSO TRANSIT RH SIDE OF NEEDLES LTHO WITH PEAK OF NEEDLES. DIFFICULT TO LOCATE WITH E/S. (M WALSH, 2.9.76).
