Cause: 19.11.93 built in 1888 by black, hawthorne & co ltd, sunderland. owned at the time of loss by r gordon & co. two boilers, triple expansion engine of 210 nhp, single shaft. passage cardiff for port said. arrived scillies 19.11.93 with extensive storm damage. after some repair sailed for plymouth to obtain new lifeboats. under pilot control and in clear weather, struck a supposedly uncharted rock and began to fill. was run ashore hear the woolpack beacon. at hw the upper deck was almost submerged. was examined for salvage but by 27.12 had began to break up and by 3.1.94 was declared ctl. no lives lost. WRECKAGE LOCATED 1971 BY MR COWAN IN ABOUT 40FT. VERY BROKEN UP AND LYING IN GULLIES BETWEEN THE ROCKS. NON DANGEROUS. (HMS HECATE, ROS DTD 16.7.73).
