EXPERT SEARCH OF THE WRECK AREA IS TAKING PLACE DURING SUMMER OF 1969. (TRITON & VARIOUS MAGS FEB 1969) 12.10.02 SINKING DATE GIVEN AS 11.9.1588, ON STROMBOLI REEF, BETWEEN DUN MOR & GREAT BLASKET ISLAND. REMAINS FOUND BY ENGLISH DIVERS LED BY JOHN GRATTON IN JULY 1968 AFTER UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPTS BY SIDNEY WIGNALL & DES BRANNIGAN. WK LIES 200YDS SE OF REFF IN 35-40MTRS. WRECKAGE CONSISTED OF A MOUND OF BALLAST COVERING REMAINS OF SHIP'S TIMBERS. ALSO FOUND WERE PEWTER, SHOT AND ARQUEBUSES [GUNS SUPPORTED ON A TRIPOD]. A SMALL BRASS CANNON WITH COAT OF ARMS BEARING A UPROOTED TREE WAS FOUND ON THE BLASKETS AROUND 1840. (SHIPWRECKS OF THE IRISH COAST, E. J. BOURKE, PUBLISHED 1994)
