Cause: ex-minster. built in 1911. two boilers, triple expansion engine, single shaft. passage cardiff for devonport. torpedoed by ub-40 and was abandoned. later reboarded but sank before reaching kennack sands. (sibi, ww1sl & ll ww1).

ARMED MERCHANT SHIP, GUNS STILL MOUNTED ON STERN. LEAST DEPTH, ABOVE BOILERS, 84 IN GEN DEPTH 102FT. WK ABOUT 200FT LONG, BUT DIVED DURING POOR VISIBILITY. IDENTIFIED AS 'ROSEHILL' BY MAKERS NAME AND NUMBER ON STEERING GEAR. (M COOMBS, 25.6.79). CHART AS WK 25MTRS. BR STD. 15.8.79 LOCATED IN 502001N, 041829W [OGB] USING DECCA. (MR BOWEN, TELECON). NCA. H1961/79 18.3.81 EXAM'D 28.4.80 IN 501944.8N, 041826.5W [OGB] USING TRISPONDER [2 LOP]. LEAST E/S DEPTH 20.0 IN GEN DEPTH 26MTRS. SWEPT CLEAR AT 21.9, FOUL AT 22.0MTRS. SCOUR 1MTR DEEP. DCS3 HT 5.44MTRS. LIES ON SIDE OF 23MTR BANK IN AREA OF ROCK & GRAVEL ON HEADING 100/280DEGS. POOR DCS3 RETURN DUE TO MASKING FROM BANK. (HMS WOODLARK, HI 71A/80). ACCEPT SWEPT DEPTH.
