DIVERS INVESTIGATING FOUND STEEL WK APPROX 23MTRS LONG AND STANDING 2MTRS ABOVE SEABED. (AB(R) M OATES & DIVING TENDER IXWORTH). POSSIBLY PART OF ROCK ISLAND BRIDGE, SUNK 1920 AND SALVAGED 1927. INS AS WK 7MTRS

- NM 1915/86. HH090/638/01 19.2.96 AFTER SCRUTINY OF THE SONAR TRACE BELIEVED WK HAS BROKEN UP. (HMSML GLEANER, HI 638). AMENDED TO FOUL. 19.2.13 EXAM'D 18.8.12 IN 5005.656N, 0505.685W [WGD]. LEAST M/B DEPTH 7.2 IN GEN DEPTH 8.4MTRS. SCOUR 0.7MTR DEEP AT WK. LENGTH 102MTRS, WIDTH 30MTRS, HT 1.9MTRS. LIES 080/260 DEGS. STRONG MAGNETIC ANOMALY. (EGS, FOR CHANNEL COASTAL OBSERVATORY, HI 1404). ?LARGE PORTION OF SHIP'S SIDE LYING FLAT IN SHALL SCOUR. CONSIDERED TO BE 'ROCK ISLAND BRIDGE'. AMEND WK 7.2MTRS IN REVISED POSN.
