Cause: iron vessel, built 1879 by palmer's co., with 2 cylinder compound engine, single shaft, 1 boiler. owned at time of loss by john cory and sons. on passage from ardrossan for newport, mon. collided with ss 'royston grange' and sank off holyhead. (dods).
