Name: RFA CREOSOL

Length 67.4 meter, width: 10.7 meter, draught: 4.6, tonnage 1179 ton

Cause: built in 1916 by short bros, sunderland. one of 18 'ol' class of admiralty designed harbour tankers. triple expansion engine, single shaft for 9.5kts. passage the humber for sunderland. torpedoed by uc 17.

GOOD SHADOW ON SONAR TRACE. (ISS, HMS ENTERPRISE ROS DTD 31.12.71). NCA YET. H2189/71 22.5.72 FURTHER CONTACTS 4C SW. NOT YET INVESTIGATED. (ISS, 1971). 18.5.73 AMEND TO USCPA 28MTRS. NC 152. H6330/87 7.11.88 EXAM'D 7.6.88 IN 545214N, 011149W [OGB] USING TRISPONDER [7 LOP]. SWEPT CLEAR AT 34.8, FOUL AT 35.3MTRS. LEAST E/S DEPTH 35.5 IN GEN DEPTH 43.5MTRS. SCOUR DEPTH 44.2MTRS. DCS3 HT 7.9MTRS, LENGTH 85MTRS, BEAM 12MTRS. INTACT, LYING 035/215 DEG. UPRIGHT AND GIVING A GOOD SHADOW FROM ALL DIRECTIONS. A PROJECTION, POSSIBLY MAST, STANDS A QUARTER OF THE WAY FROM S END. (GARDLINE SURVEYS, HI 414A). AMEND TO SW 34MTRS IN REVISED POSN.

- NM 3636/88. HH100/351/15 9.11.99 LIES ON A SEABED OF FINE SAND, GRAVEL AND MUD. VERY SUBSTATIAL AND STANDS UP TO 7MTRS HIGH. INTACT. MOST OF MACHINERY, FITTINGS AND INSTRUMENTS ARE MADE OF COPPER AND BRASS. BRIDGE STRUCTURE IS LARGELY INTACT WITH ALL EQUIPMENTS STILL FITTED. BRONZE PROP STILL IN PLACE. (R YOUNG, LTR DTD 2.11.99). NCA. 5.4.17 STATUTORY INSTRUMENTS, DEFENCE NO 147/2017. COMING INTO FORCE 3.3.17. AMEND "HISTORIC". 15.3.19 CREOSOL LARGELY INTACT AND SAT UPRIGHT. ROV INSPECTION SHOWED TANKS TO BE OPEN AND FRAMES EXPOSED. (SALMO SURVEYS AUG-SEP 2018). M/B IMAGE ATTACHED.
