Cause: Built in 1910 by sir raylton dixon co ltd, middlesbrough. owned at time of loss by the south metropolitan gas co. two boilers, triple expansion engine of 192hp, single shaft. passage cardiff for the tyne. in ballast. captured by ub-39 and then sunk by scuttling charges. all crew recovered.

PROP SHAFT BROKEN FOR A FEW MTRS AFT OF ENGINE. FORWARD PART OF WK COLLAPSED, WITH BOILERS ROLLED OUT ON SEABED. BOW REASONABLY INTACT SPLIT AWAY FROM MAIN BODY OF WK, LYING PORTSIDE UPPPERMOST WITH ANCHORS TIGHT IN HAWSE PIPES. THE REMAINS INDICATE THAT IT WAS LYING ON ITS STBD SIDE BUT HAS COLLAPSED &BEEN STREWN TOWARDS THE SE. THE HULL HAS BEEN BROKEN INTO TWO SECTIONS JUST AFT OF MIDSHIPS. BETWEEN THE STERN &THE BOW, (NE END), THE HULL PLATE HAS COLLAPSED. MIDSHIPS, ARE TWO MAIN BOILERS, AN AUXILLIARY BOILER &THE TRIPLE EXPANSION ENGINE. (MMT, HI 1498). AMEND 16.7MTRS IN REVISED POSN.
