Cause: built in 1874 in malmo. owned at time of loss by the shipping controller (h w & c m ezard). compound engines of 65 rhp for 8 knots. the captain and 11 crew were killed. (dods). torpedoed and sunk by german submarine ub 34. (der kreig zur see). passage tilbury to dundee, cargo 500 tons jute. torpedo struck the engine room on the port side. the captain and 12 of the crew were killed at once. the vessel sank almost immediately, the remaining four crew were rescued.
