Cause: torpedoed and sunk by german submarine 6m s of the lizard. (bot wr8/340 & docket m46066). torpedoed and sunk by german submarine 6m s of the lizard. 13 lives lost. (ll ww1 & ww1sl). built in 1872 by earle's co. ltd., kingston-upon-hull, was torpedoed and sunk by german submarine ub-112 6m s of the lizard whilst en route from newport to st malo. BR STD. 30.5.07 30.5.07 NOT THE WRECK OF HMS ROCHE BONNE - SEE [22486]. APPEARS TO BE THE BOW OF AN OLD SWEDISH STEAM SHIP. NAME OF SHIPPING COMPANY IDENTIFIED BY PLATE AS 'FORNYADE ANGFARTYES AKTIEBOLAGET GOTHA'. STERN OF THIS SHIP LIKELY TO BE [22477]. (G POUND, FAX DTD 25.5.07). NCA. 15.6.07 15.6.07 NOW IDENTIFIED AS THE STERN SECTION OF THE 'POLJAMES'. POLJAMES THOUGHT TO HAVE BEEN BUILT IN SWEDEN AS THE 'JAMES J DICKSON', BUT CONFISCATED BY THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT IN 1917 & RENAMED. (G POUND, TELECOM 15.6.07).
