Cause: ex- grovelea, ex- lady furness, built 1906 by blyth shipbuilding co.ltd., bltyh, with 3 cylinder triple expansion engine of 166hp, 1 boiler, single shaft. machinery by ne marine eng. co. ltd, newcastle-upon-tyne. owned at time of loss by gas light & coke co. passage tyne for london. torpedoed & sunk by german submarine ub 35. 14 of 18 crew lost. (A C JACKSON, 9.2.93). NCA YET. HH090/730/01 17.11.97 NOT SURVEYED AS LIES IN FISHING AREA EXCLUSION ZONE. (GARDLINE, HI 730). IN VIEW OF PREVIOUS REPORT, INS AS USC 21MTRS IN PREVIOUSLY REPORTED POSN. BR STD. 1.4.09 THIS WRECK IS PROBABLY PHARE, IDENTITY BEING BASED ON LENGTH, MACHINERY DETAILS, POSN OF LOSS, A NUMBERED & DATED GUN SIGHT & GUN PLATE. (CARL RACEY, E-MAIL DTD 27.3.09) RECORD AMENDED TO PHARE (PROBABLY) SEE ALSO [5912]. SEP 2016/000007250 16.06.16 EXAM'D 20.02.16 IN 5418.955N, 0021.236W [WGD]. LEAST M/B DEPTH 26.1MTRS IN GEN DEPTH 29MTRS. LENGTH 77.8MTRS, WIDTH 11.9MTRS, HT 6.1MTRS, ORIENTATION 075/255. STRONG MAGNETIC ANOMALY, FEATURE APPEARS MOSTLY BURIED WITH THREE EXPOSED SECTIONS. (EGS, HI 1472). AMEND DW 26MTRS.
