Cause: built in 1905 by barclay, curle & co. with triple- expansion engines of 500nhp. owned at time of loss by peninsular & oriental steam navigation co. passage montreal & sydney ns for britain. torpedoed by german submarine u-96 on port side and later on starboard side forward of the bridge. 13 lost. (dods & ww1 bms uboat sinkings).
