Cause: 13.3.76 vessel, built 1975 by chiantiers de l'atlantique, st nazaire. owned at time of loss by olympic maritime. on maiden voyage from brest, in ballast for trials before heading to farsund. drifted onto rocks about 1m ne of creac'h lt ho, ushant, after engine failure. tugs failed to refloat the vessel & it was later abandoned. several of the vessels tanks were holed due to the vessel rolling & bumping the rocky seabed. vessel broke in two on 13.3.76. claimed settled for ú19.6 million , it is repd that the vessel was later sold to a scrap dealer for one french franc. (msd).
