Cause: built in 1853 by p vailin, quebeck. owned at time of loss by j p evans, liverpool. passage liverpool for tiree in ballast. sank following a collision with british ss albanian in clear weather. with nydia sailing close to the wind, albanian held her course and nydia struck her port side, aft of the bridge. sank following damage to the bow. third officer penny of albanian was found to be wholly responsible for the collision.
