Cause: built in 1916 by sir raylton dixon & co. owned at time of loss by coast lines. triple expansion engine of 162nhp for 9 knots, single shaft. torpedoed and sunk. nineteen men lost.positional analysis: reported position was 53 19; 04 48w (rohwer 1999, p188 and war losses 1989, p786). the "19" may be a transcription error for14. this would put the attack in exactly the right place. the attack also claimed roanoke (ukho 7178) which has been identified as a nearby wreck to the north.archival analysis: normandy coast was sunk by u1055 on 11 jan 1945. survivor stated ship was hit aft and settled by the stern (tna adm199/2148). it is noted the stern of this wreck is separated from the rest of the wreck. wrecksite.eu record states that the wreck is believed to be ss normandy coast. means of identification by divers is not given in detail but stated as "100%" certain.

THE OVERALL LENGTH IS APPROX 78MTRS AND WIDTH APPROX 12MTRS. THE WRECK IS CONSIDERED TO BE "NORMANDY COAST" BY DIMENSIONS, ARCHIVE AND DIVER IDENTIFICATION.
