Cause: built in 1863 by richardson, newcastle. owned at time of loss by the london & south western railway co. one boiler, compound expansion engine of 45hp, paddle propulsion. passage southampton for jersey. collided with ss mary in fog due to excessive speed. thirty four crew and passengers lost. (sibi).

WK IS UPRIGHT BUT ONLY THE CENTRAL PART OF THE HULL INTACT. THIS CONTAINS THE MACHINERY AND CARRIES THE REMAINS OF THE PADDLE WHEELS. THE BOW AND STERN APPEAR TO HAVE BROKEN DOWN AND DISAPPEARED.
