Cause: built in 1908 by trondheims mek vaerks, trondheim. owned at time of loss by nordenfjeldske dampskibsselskab. one boiler, triple expansion engine of 132nhp, single shaft. passage the tyne for svalvaer. detonated a mine laid by uc-29. two men lost. (sibi).

H4214/26 1.7.26 CHARTED AS NDW PA (1918) IN 552920N, 013007W. 7.6.72 AMEND TO NDW PA. (AUTHORITY NOT STATED) NE 1192. 4.6.76 TONNAGE & GEN DEPTH KNOWN. AMEND TO WK USC PA 20MTRS. NC 156. HH242/630/05 26.5.99 LOCATED IN 5528.650N, 0129.933W [WGD] USING DGPS. GEN DEPTH 38MTRS. LENGTH 40MTRS, WIDTH 12MTRS. DCS3 HT 6.5MTRS. LIES 120/300DEGS. INTACT. (MV ANTARES, HN DTD 18.5.99 FOR HI 843). AMEND TO WK 30MTRS IN REVISED POSN. BR STD. HH100/351/15 17.9.99 LIES ON A SANDY SEABED. MADE OF RIVETTED IRON AND WELL BROKEN UP. IRON PROPELLER IN PLACE. ALL OF THE SUPERSTRUCTURE HAS FALLEN AWAY AND LIES IN A FLATTENED TANGLE OF RUBBLE OF EITHER SIDE. ENGINE AND BOILER ARE RECOGNISABLE WITH THE DONKEY ENGINE AND BOILER TO THE FORE. TOWARDS THE BOWS LOOSE FITTINGS, RIBS AND GIRDERS LIE IN A JUMBLED MASS. NO NETS ON THE WRECK. BOW HAS DETERIORATED BUT STILL STANDS SOME 3MTRS OFF THESEA BED. NO BRIDGE ARTEFACTS HAVE BEEN FOUND. A BELL ENGRAVED 'SS GAELIC' HAS BEEN RECOVERED GIVING CAUSE TO SOME DOUBT OVER THE IDENTITY. (R YOUNG, LTR DTD 14.9.99). NCA. HH090/843/01 24.12.99 EXAM'D 5.7.99 IN 5528.647N, 0129.952W [WGD] USING DGPS. SWEPT CLEAR 31.7, FOUL 32.3MTRS BUT W EXTENT OF WK NOT COVERED DUE TO DIVING/FISHING BUOY. LEAST E/S DEPTH 32.8 IN GEN DEPTH 39MTRS. NO SCOUR. LENGTH 80MTRS, WIDTH 16MTRS. DCS3 HT 6.6MTRS. LIES 120/300 DEGS. STRONG MAGNETIC ANOMALY. SEABED SAND. INTACT AND UPRIGHT. (GARDLINE, HI 843). AMEND TO WK 32MTRS. BR STD. HH100/351/15 9.3.00 RECOVERED BELL IS MARKED: 'GAELIC 1893'. TWO VESSELS WITH THAT NAME ARE RECORDED. ONE WAS SUNK IN THE S CHINA SEA AND THE OTHER WAS SCRAPPED IN LIVERPOOL. THIS WK HAS ONE BOILER AND A SMALL DONKEY BOILER WHICH HAS A PLATE MARKED: 'CLARKE, CHAPMAN & CO, GATESHEAD' AND '18[ 5.62K ]92'. HALL, RUSSEL WOULD NOT HAVE USED ANOTHER MAKER'S BOILER. (R YOUNG). HH100/351/20 17.9.03 DIVED IN LISTED POSN. A SUBSTANTIAL WK, KNOWN TO LOCAL DIVERS AS THE NIDELVIN. (D PATTERSON). IDENTITY AMENDED.
