Cause: ex-sierra blanca. built 1905 by d & w henderson & co of glasgow. owned at time of loss by the atlantic tranport co ltd. three boilers, triple expansion engine of 461 nhp, single shaft. passage london for philadelphia. cargo of 500 tons chalk, 50 tons of cowhair, horsehair & goatskins, & fenugreek seeds. torpedoed by uc-17. was taken in tow but sank. no lives lost. (sibi).
