Cause: ex-maindy transport, ex-livonia '36, ex-ambleside '33. built as ambleside in 1920 by the rennie, richie & newport shipbuilding co, wivenhoe. owned at time of loss by a/r jotun. registered in bergen. one boiler, triple expansion engine of 106 nhp, single shaft. machinery aft by plenty & son ltd, newbury. single deck, rear bridge. two forward holds. two masts, one fwd and one fwd of the bridge. foundered after a collison 2.5 miles e of the tyne. (r young).

BOW AND STERN IN REASONABLE CONDITION. (GARDLINE, HI 796). AMEND TO SW 31MTRS. BR STD. HH100/351/15 27.9.99 LIES ON A SANDSTONE SEABED. NOT POSITIVELY IDENTIFIED BUT SIZE AND POSN ARE CORRECT. UPRIGHT AND INTACT BUT THE BRIDGE DECK STRUCTURE HAS COLLAPSED DOWN, EXPOSING THE ENGINE AND BOILERS. THESE ARE SURROUNDED BY A MOUND OF TWISTED AND BENT STEEL PLATES WITH LARGE COPPER PIPES INTERMINGLED. SUBSTANTIAL WK. (R YOUNG). NCA. HH100/351/15 14.3.00 LIES E/S ON SEABED OF DIRTY SAND & STONE. STANDS OVER 7MTRS HIGH AT THE STERN SECTION, BUT THE BRIDGE STRUCTURE HAS COLLAPSED, EXPOSING THE ENGINE AND BOILER. MIDSHIPS, HOLD SECTION, COLLAPSED BUT BOWS AND STERN ARE REASONABLY INTACT.
