Cause: built of sttel in 1911 by ropner & sons ltd, stockton. launched as port of london authority hopper no 20. steam powered. renamed lonclara and fitted out for cargo service. struck mine laid by uc-31 and sank. (r young).

DCS3 HT 5.0MTRS. LENGTH 60MTRS, WIDTH 30MTRS. LIES 134/314 DEGS. BROKEN INTO THREE PIECES. LARGEST SECTION IS RELATIVELY INTACT WITH VISIBLE SUPERSTRUCTURE. DEBRIS PRESENT WITHIN THE SURROUNDING AREA. (GARDLINE, HI 796). INS AS SW 11.5MTRS. BR STD. HH100/351/22 26.5.05 INFORMED THAT BELL HAS BEEN RECOVERED FROM WK JUST OFF HENDON ROCK IN GEN DEPTH 15MTRS. NAME ON BELL IS: HOPPER NO 5. POSN 5454.091N, 0119.391W. (R YOUNG, EMAIL DTD 25.5.05). PROBABLY THIS WK. NCA. 24.6.05 BELL WAS INSCRIBED: 'PLA HOPPER 24'. THERE IS A DATE BUT DIVER COULD ONLY REMEMBER THAT IT WAS PROBABLY DURING WW2. (R YOUNG). NCA. 13.12.07 BELL INCRIPTION NOW CONFIRMED AS ' PLA HOPPER 20'. VESSEL CONFIRMED AS BEING 'LONCLARA' AT TIME OF LOSS. (R YOUNG). NCA. SEP 2019/000043627 20.3.19 EXAM’D 20.3.19 IN 5454.023N, 0119.370W [WGD]. LEAST M/B DEPTH 11.79MTRS IN GEN DEPTH 16MTRS.
