Cause: ex-lairdstock, ex-vulture. built in 1898 by a & j inglis ltd, glasgow. owned at time of loss by david macbrayne ltd. one boiler, triple expansion engine of 367hp, single shaft. drifted ashore at rathlin island after being holed when hitting rocks off mull of kintyre in a storm. 29 of 61 crew lost, 27 survivors, 22 missing, 8 bodies recovered. on normal charter at time of loss, though had been converted to carry troops.
