Name: KOWLOON BRIDGE

Length 294.1 meter, width: 44.2 meter, draught: 18.3, tonnage 89438 ton
Load: ferrous elements and ores: unrefined and refined,oil,ore

Cause: 24.11.86 built in 1730 by swan hunter shipbuilders ltd. haverton hull. owned at time of loss by helinger ltd. oil engine, single shaft. passage river st lawrecnce, quebec, for the clyde. sought shelter in bantry bay on 18.1 to carry out repairs serious deck cracks. after parting from stbd anchor in heavy weather on 22.11 sailed from bantry bay but steering gear broke down in force 9 weather. was abandoned with engine running and drifted dereclict for 24 hours. went ashore 24.11.86. broke in two and caused severe pollution. later slipped off rocks. (sii).

(MARINE SURVEY OFFICE, DUBLIN; MRCC SHANNON & IRISH DEPT OF COMMS, MARINE NOTICE NO 35/86). LIES WNW/ESE. (DUBLIN NM 11/86). INS AS ST IN 512750N, 091345W, WITH S CARD PILLAR LT BUOY, Q(6) + LFL.15S, IN 512733N, 091343W.

LIES 103/283 DEGS WITH BOWS W. MAINLY DESTROYED, IN AT LEAST THREE SECTIONS WITH DEBRIS. (RV CELTIC VOYAGER, CV13_02, INFOMAR). SECTION OF LOWER HULL WITH DEBRIS AT THE ENDS AND IN THE VICINITY. AMEND WK 12MTRS IN REVISED POSN.
