Cause: 1.8.14 built in 1913 by akt ges vilkan for the hamburg-amerika line. taken over by the german admiralty on 1.8.14 and fitted with minelaying gear. turbine engines for 21kts. fitted for two 37cm guns, but guns not mounted. carriage for 200 mines. passage from wilhelmshaven for minelaying in the thames estuary. was sunk by gunfire from hms amphion. the following day amphion was mined and sunk by one konigin louise's mines.
