Cause: built in 1926 by furness sb co., with triple expansion engine of 11nhp. owned at time of loss by paterson steamships. passage quebec & sydney, nova scotia for bristol. was shelled & sunk by german submarine ?u 48. 7 of 21 crew lost. (dods, ww2sl, ll ww2). u 48 claimed to have torpedoed & sunk vessel, but she may have been sunk by gunfire from another submarine. (axis submarine successes).
