Cause: ex-sir walter scott '36. built in 1908 by blyth shipbuilding co, blyth. owned at time of loss by the ministry of war transport. single boiler, triple expansion engine of 181 hp, single shaft. passage rouen for glasgow. in ballast. struck rocks off st govan's head in fog, and sank 2m off caldy island. survivors rescued by hms larch.
