VERY LITTLE SILTING. (R G LARN, 3.9.64). BR STD. H6040/59 8.11.66 WK OF SS 'ITALIA' LIES OFF LEDGE OF GREAT WINGLETANG LEDGES. STERN IN 30FT BOWS IN 125FT. SILTING OF WK HAS OCCURRED AND NATURAL COLLAPSE, OTHERWISE WK IS VIRTUALLY INTACT. LOCAL SALVAGE FIRM HAS DONE SOME BLASTING AND ARE STARTING RECOVERY WORK. [SKETCH IN H6040/59 OF WRECKAGE POSN]. BR STD. 2.10.70 REPORT FROM RAF ST ATHANS SUB AQUA CLUB STATES WK LIES ROUGHLY N/S WITH STERN TO N JUST TO THE E OF THE MOST SOUTHERLY OF THE GREAT WINGLETANG LEDGES. WRECK LIES BROKEN UP IN A GULLY BETWEEN TWO LARGE ROCK OUTCROPS. A FULL INVESTIGATION WAS PERFORMED BUT THE SURVEY DOES NOT COVER THE ENTIRE WRECK SITE. (MMT, HI 1504).
