Name: HMS WARSPITE (PART OF)

Length 195.1 meter, width: 31.7 meter, draught: 9.4, tonnage 30600 ton

Cause: built in 1913 by devonport dockyard. twenty four boilers, steam turbines of 75000 hp, quarduple shafts. broke away from tug while being towed portsmouth for the clyde for breaking. grounded and was later beached. scrapped in situ over a period of five years.

A REEF LIES INSIDE THE WRECKAGE, LEADING TOWARDS ST MICHAEL'S MOUNT HARBOUR WALL. (J ROSEVEARE, E-MAIL DTD 24.2.02) CHART AS F. BR STD. HH232/410/03 5.3.02 CONFIRMED THAT WRECKAGE REPORTED ABOVE IS BOILERS, STANDING 2MTRS HIGH, OF HMS WARSPITE, (VESSEL HAD 24 BOILERS). [SEE ALSO 16317]. (J ROSEVEARE/G FURSE TELECON 2.3.02). INS AS OBSTN (NO DEPTH SPECIFIED).
