Cause: built in 1916 by cochrane & sons ltd, selby. one boiler, triple expansion engine of 88nhp, single shaft. machinery by amos & smith ltd, hull. when new possibly had a subsidiary 'ketch-type' rig. hired 1917-1919 and again as armed patrol trawler from 12.1939. convered to fuel carrier in 1944. one 6 pdr gun. passage cherbourg for uk as part of convoy ebc 38. was last sighted 25 miles due s of start point having been given permission to leave convoy and proceed to portland. admiralty considered vessel 'foundered in heavy weather following a breakdown in her engine room'. (k b c jones & colledge).
