Cause: built in 1941 by vickers armstrong. a 'hunt' class type three destroyer. four 4 inch aa, one four barrel 2 pounder aa and 20mm as guns. two 21 inch torpedo tubes. 34000shp for 26.5 knots. torpedoed & sunk by e-boat while escorting a coastal convoy. 36 men lost, 117 recovered. (srn, dods & warship losses of ww2).

A NAVAL VESSEL BELIEVED TO BE HMS PENYLAN. STANDS 7MTRS HIGH BY E/S, 8MTRS HIGH BY DEPTH GAUGE. UPRIGHT BUT BROKEN. LIES E/W WITH BOWS E. LEAST M/B DEPTH 59.9 IN GEN DEPTH 66.4MTRS. SCOUR <0.5MTR EXTENDS 50MTRS TOWARDS 205 DEGS. MODERATE MAGNETIC ANOMALY. DEBRIS EXTENDS 15MTRS TOWARDS 045 DEGS. COLLAPSED, IN TWO SECTIONS.
