Cause: Formerly french 'hasard' (?hussard, ?hazardeux), captured nov 1703. wrecked near selsey bill. (srn). grounded on a reef in bracklesham bay during a storm while acting as an escort for a convoy on passage chesapeake bay, virginia for the thames estuary. broke in two & bow section settled into the silt on shoreside of the reef. (english heritage).

A 11M X 4M DEPRESSION AROUND 0.4M DEEP WITH A NUMBER OF UPSTANDING FEATURES IS VISIBLE TO THE WEST OF THE MAIN SITE. THE PROMINENT FEATURE WITHIN THE DEPRESSION MEASURES 2.3 X 0.7 X 0.3M, ORIENTATED WEST TO EAST. A SMALL DEPRESSION, MEASURING 2.5M X 3.5M IS SITUATED APPROXIMATELY 15M NORTH OF THE MAIN SITE.
