Cause: built in 1932 by smith's dock co, middlesborough as 'kos xvii'. crewed by the royal norwerian navy. triple expansion engines for 12 knots. requisitioned as a minesweeper in 1940. bow mounted 37mm and 20mm guns. torpedoed by e-boats of the 5th flotilla whilst escorting convoy wp 300. also lost were the mv modavia, hms lord hailsham and lct 381. (n r chipchase).

INTACT STERN SECTION WITH SINGLE PROP. THIS PART IS UPRIGHT AND TERMINATES IN A SINGLE BOILER BEYOND WHICH THE BOW SECTION IS DETACHED AND COLLAPSED. SHELLS OF APPROX 20MM CALIBRE WERE SEEN. A WALKER CHERUB III SHIP'S LOG WAS RECOVERED. THE SERIAL NUMBER INDICATED THAT THIS HAD BEEN ASSEMBLED FOR THE ADMIRALTY ON 12.12.1942. (N R CHIPCHASE, 8.10.97). NCA.
