Cause: ex-'ironclad' hms invinicible, ex-hms erebus 1904-1906. training ship from 1904-1914. passage while under tow from portsmouth to scapa flow by tugs 'danube' & 'southampton'. water entered through the hawse pipes during heavy weather. tugs were unable to get fisgard ii into portland. turned on her side and sank. steering gear and props removed whilst being used as a training ship. of crew of 64, 21 men lost. (a dunster).
