Cause: ex-mary swanston. built 1916 by herd & mackenzie, findochty. one boiler, triple expansion engine, single shaft. machinery by rose street foundry & eng co ltd, inverness. hired by admiralty in jan 1940 & converted for use as a minesweeper. lost in scapa flow following a collision with a puffer. (sibi).

(KHM SCAPA FLOW, HN DTD 24.6.40). NAMED AS DEWEY EVE. POSN FIXED BY HSA, BUOY LAID TO ENABLE SALVAGE DIVERS TO REMOVE VALUABLE GEAR & DANGEROUS MAST. LEAST DEPTH OVER FUNNEL 18FT, HENCE NO FURTHER WORK CARRIED OUT AND BUOY WITHDRAWN. (KHM SCAPA FLOW, 29.6.40). BEARING & DISTANCE GIVES POSN 585047N, 031142W.
