Cause: 8.10.40 built in 1919 by newport news shipbuilding & dry dock co as uss mason. commissioned into the rn 8.10.40. s turbines of 26,500 shp for 35 knots, twin shaft. 3 x 4 inch & 1 x 3 inch guns. 6 torpedo tubes. torpedoed by u 101 while escorting convoy sc 48. sank some 9 hours later. (srn & warship losses of ww2).
