Cause: built in 1917 by armstrong whitworth, barrow-in-furness. an 'arethusa' class armed sloop. twin triple expansion engines of 2500 ihp for 17 knots, twin shaft. on convoy escort work. two x 4 inch, two x 12 pound guns. torpedoed in very rough weather by ub-65. 9 men lost.

SEVERAL STEEP PINNACLES, BUT THEY DO NOT ACCOUNT FOR EXCELLENT SONAR RESPONSE OR ECHOES, WHICH WERE CAUSED BY EITHER A COMPACT SHOAL OF FISH WHICH REMAINED FOR TWO DAYS, OR A WK. POSSIBLY HMS ARBUTUS CHARTED 1.5M S. (HMS WOODLARK, HI 43/71).
