Name: HMD Lustring

Length 25.5 meter, width: 5.7 meter, draught: 2.5

Cause: on the 3rd october 1918 at 7.30 pm the boom net tender hm drifter 'lustring', while working at the kirkwall boom net, collided with hm trawler 'elvina' no 701 (gy.238) and then foundered in 14 fathoms, close to the shore off hellier holm, shapinsay. all crew were saved.

Details measurements/cartography: 30.7.21 EXAM'D 25.5.2021; REMAINS OF HM DRIFTER "LUSTRING" WERE LOCATED IN 5900.840N, 0252.897W [WGD], USING MAGNOTOMETER ANS SIDE SCAN SONAR, ALSO DIVED. (KEVIN HEATH, SULA DIVING). INS DIST REMAINS OF WRECK.
